Steph and Laura’s Goals for 2022

Goodbye 2021 and hello 2022! Believe it or not, we don’t actually need the new year to set goals, we can make them at any time – so don’t feel discouraged if you don’t currently have any goals for 2022 in mind just yet.

However in saying this, we love the special symbolism that the new year period carries. It’s a celebration of the year that was and an opportunity to think about what we want to achieve over the next 365 days.

The new year spurs us on to think about the choices we wish to make and things we want to achieve over the coming months. In fact, doing this sets us up with a hint of control especially in a world where there are so many things which lie beyond our control.

When you set goals for the new year and make a pact to yourself to do your best to commit to them, it actually provides you with the roots of your ‘why’ and when you know your ‘why’ it can help you find motivation on the days when its lacking.

So, without further ado, here are our goals for 2022. These are goals which have been developed upon a reflection of 2021 and are going to help encourage us to make the best possible choices throughout 2022.

Steph’s Goals

Goal 1: Create a structured plan to help me get back into a healthy work / home routine.

In 2021 I was winging it from week to week and trying to manage Harvey and KIC without much structure which left me feeling very disorganised and stressed so, in 2022 I want to find my balance and a regular schedule that helps me be my best self at work and with family.

Goal 2: Reign in things in that are outside of KIC and Harvey.

With Harvey and KIC being my top two priorities, I want to get better at politely saying ‘no’ to other opportunities that end up taking away my time from Harvey, KIC and my ‘me’ time. I want to try and make sure my time outside of my top priorities isn’t always filled, particularly with other work. I’ve learnt that filling up all of my free time with other things only leaves me feeling exhausted, so leaving time to recharge is important to me.

Goal 3: Less screen time

Although technology plays such a huge part in my work, I want to make an active effort to be away from my screen more in 2022, especially around Harvey.

Goal 4: Continue running and yoga

I have absolutely loved finishing our 0-5km KICRUN program, it’s helped me to improve my running fitness and prove to myself that I can be runner and that I can enjoy it. My goal is to maintain this fitness by aiming to run once or twice a week in 2022! Alongside continuing to run, another goal is to continue practicing yoga as I LOVE how it makes me feel.

Laura’s Goals

Goal 1: Challenge myself

Last year, I spent a lot of time exploring what brings me fulfilment and purpose (which are both really important to me). I discovered that the biggest thing that pushes me to grow and find these things is stepping outside of my comfort zone. It can be scary and uncomfortable, but if last year taught me anything it is that I need to trust myself, close my eyes and jump in. The fulfilment and growth will come. My goal for 2022 is to say ‘yes’ to things that challenge me so that I can continue to grow.

Goal 2: Be more decisive

I’ve come to learn that when I’m decisive I feel better and I feel more in control. In 2022 I want to continue to be more decisive and know that whatever decision I make, it will be the right one. Trusting our judgment, is such an important part of building our confidence from within. I find comfort in the fact that every decision I have made (good or bad) in my life so far, has lead me here and I am exactly where I am meant to be.

Goal 3: Drink more water

This is a goal that I had in 2021 and I’m going to take into 2022. Keeping hydrated is so important and has so many benefits and for these reasons I want to actively continue making drinking more water this year.

Goal 4: Staying fit for life

I love the way moving my body makes me feel and the benefits it has on both my mental and physical health. This is why in 2022 I want to keep up my running, my strength training and my pilates. I have set a goal to do 2 x KIC Pilates and 2 x KIC Strength classes per week.

We’d love to hear your goals for 2022! Feel free to share them in the KIC Facebook Community so that the KIC Squad can be there to support you every step of the way. Bring on 2022!
