How to get out of a Motivation Slump

If there’s one question we get asked over and over again, its this – “How do I get out of my food / workout / motivation slump?” We know what’s it’s like to get trapped in a negative mindset. You feel like you just can’t motivate yourself so there is no point in trying!

But here’s the thing… no one feels motivated 100% of the time. We all struggle sometimes and that’s totally fine. So with that being said, we’ve put together a little guide to help get you back to KICing goals.

Don’t wait for motivation

The important thing is to get started. If you’re not feeling super excited about a workout, just throw your runners on and get on with it. Motivation will show up if you do. Take your workout one step at a time and just see how you go. 9 times out of 10 you will end up enjoying yourself half way through!

Make baby steps

If you’re excited to make a change and embrace a healthier lifestyle, that is absolutely fantastic, but don’t try to change too much at once. For one thing, you might end up injuring yourself if you go from 0 to 100 too fast. For another, you may end up feeling disappointed if you slip up, then be tempted to throw every change you’ve made out of the window.

A tip we love is to make one small change a week and consistently build over time. This is far more sustainable than drastically changing everything in one go. Adjust and adapt your eating plan and workout routine until you find something that you are able to live with (and enjoy!) longterm.

Find a workout buddy

It can be so motivating having someone join you on your fitness journey! Find a friend who also wants to make a change and do it together. Schedule in weekly workouts or runs together and check in regularly to see how you are both going. Of course, our Private Facebook Community is great for this if you don’t have anyone IRL.

Stop being so hard on yourself

Nothing makes us sadder than seeing girls be down on themselves. There’s enough negativity in the world without you guys being your own biggest critics! Stop focusing on your perceived flaws or the workouts you missed and start focusing on the good stuff. Be proud of what you can do and how strong you are!

While we’re at it, why not throw out the scales and measure yourself by how good you feel, not what you look like?! Do you have lots of energy? Are you happy? Do you feel fit and strong? Yes? Then you’re doing amazing lady!

What are your motivation tips? We’d love for you to share them in our Facebook Community!
